Dental Sealants
To protect enamel from plaque and acids, sometimes we use a technique involving dental sealants. It is highly effective in preventing decay on the surfaces of your chewing teeth where you bite. It is a very simple procedure where a coating of a tooth colored acrylic material is painted on the surface of the tooth. This will seal in the deep groves and act as a protecting barrier.
These sealants will protect against food particles and plaque that normal brushing and flossing cannot reach.
Applying the sealants to your teeth is very simple and will only take a few minutes in our office. The sealants hold up very well under the stress of chewing and can last several years before a new application of sealant is required.
Applying sealants to help prevent tooth decay is something both adults and children can benefit from.
