At Martindale Dental, we know that healthy, beautiful teeth can boost your confidence and can give you a sense of well being. This is why we offer comprehensive dental care with a special emphasis on a range of specialties, including dental implantology, periodontal care, cosmetic and reconstructive dentistry, and orthodontics. In our modern, comfortable offices – conveniently located in Milton, St. Catharines, St. Catharines, and North York – we care for our patients with the highest consideration and attention to detail.
The foundation for a beautiful smile is a set of beautiful, healthy gums. This is why your dental exams and cleanings are so important. Regular visits to our dental office will ensure that your teeth and gums will remain strong and healthy, enabling you to keep your beautiful smile for a lifetime.
We encourage dental checkups every six months. Regular checkups include a thorough cleaning, polishing by our gentle dental hygienists. Our dentists will perform an oral exam, checking the health of your mouth, teeth, gums, cheeks, and tongue. At each visit, your dentist will also check old fillings and dental restorations because constant pressure from chewing, grinding, or clenching can cause them to wear away, chip, or crack.
Your First Visit
We know it is important to you to keep your teeth healthy and to save your natural teeth for as long as possible. No matter what condition your teeth are in, right now is the best time to begin taking care of them. We can help, and it’s easier than you think. Even if you have been afraid to visit the dentist, please come and see us. Our experienced, caring dentists will give you a very careful evaluation and help you to take care of and preserve your teeth, one step at a time.
At Martindale Dental we complete a comprehensive exam when you schedule your first visit. This includes a comprehensive oral exam, digital X-rays, a complete periodontal exam and a cancer screening. Any recommended treatment will be clearly outlined for you and you will have the opportunity to have any questions answered.
Dental x-rays allow the dentist to view the structure of the jaw, the position of any teeth that have not yet erupted, malformed roots, and tooth decay. These x-rays also are critical in the diagnosis of gum disease, and the detection of cysts or tumors that can occur in the jaws.
During your first visit you will be asked to provide complete, up-to-date information on your health. Inform your dentist if you have experienced recent hospitalization or surgery, or if you have recently been ill. Also tell the dentist the names, doses, and frequency of any medications you are taking — whether prescription or over-the-counter products — and the name of your physician. It is also important to bring up any fears you may have about dental treatment. We have many ways to help you relax during treatment.
The information collected in your first visit will help the doctor select the safest and most effective method of treatment for you.
